Integrating the Parihoa Network, MC², and Retreats at Parihoa

Over the coming days, I will conduct an interview with my esteemed friend, Begum, to discuss the development of our inaugural signature retreat, which will be situated at the heart of the MC² Network. In this article, I share my insights on the origins and future trajectory of this concept.

Why Parihoa?

Over the years, since acquiring Parihoa, I have witnessed my global friends and Network members embark on journeys to New Zealand, embracing the lifestyle I have chosen. Often, these individuals originate from bustling regions such as Singapore, New York, London, Tokyo, and beyond. It has been captivating to observe their transformation as they slow down and return to their lives with renewed perspectives.

Where Life Is

One of my cherished friends, Caroline from Sweden, once encapsulated the essence of Parihoa as “where life is.” Caroline was one of my initial guests upon acquiring Parihoa, and she visited from Singapore. Each year, she would return, accompanied by her children, and utilize Parihoa as her annual reset.

The Parihoa Lifestyle

The foundation of our retreat concept at Parihoa lies in inviting members of the Network to New Zealand and Parihoa to experience a rejuvenating five-day period. While participants are welcome to extend their stay or explore New Zealand, the primary focus remains on the five-day experience at Parihoa. To ensure a harmonious experience, applicants are required to complete a comprehensive self-assessment form for acceptance. Our objective is to curate an environment that fosters camaraderie among the eight to ten participants, enabling them to fully embrace the principles of Parihoa.

Who is the Retreat Relevant To?

The Parihoa Retreat is meticulously designed for individuals at a critical juncture in their lives, facilitating introspection, rejuvenation, and rest. While the retreat is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds, its unique cultural experience distinguishes it.

The Retreat Leader

Begum, a close friend, will lead the retreat, overseeing the management of facilitators, food, logistics, and budgets. Begum’s frequent visits to Parihoa have provided her with a profound understanding of the property.

Expected Outcomes

In addition to daily yoga, meditation, hikes, nutritious meals, and access to the sauna and ice bath, the Parihoa experience will encompass workshops with other participants. These workshops will assist in designing your life, fostering connections through conversations, and consuming nutritionally dense food. Parihoa’s objective is to facilitate the exploration of your potential and foster appreciation for your current life.

Matt’s Role as Custodian of Parihoa

As the Custodian of Parihoa, Matt integrates the property’s culture with the land, ensuring that activities respect the serenity of the location. Matt has resided at Parihoa for the past 12 years, during which time he has worked remotely, shared enjoyable moments with friends, and opened the property to the community. Matt’s role is to leverage his diverse experience with participants, ensuring that they leave with a transformative and life-changing experience.

Costs

The initial retreat aims to achieve a break-even cost, allowing for proof of concept and the development of a strategy for its expansion beyond this initial phase. Our primary focus is on creating a meaningful experience in New Zealand and Parihoa for our participants. Participants will be responsible for budgeting for airfares, insurance, transportation, and any additional add-ons, which will be provided upon acceptance.
