Beyond the 9-to-5: A Blueprint for the Future of Work and Life

Some parts of the world lend themselves to more well-being in the workplace than others. Take New York versus Vancouver, or Singapore versus Sydney. One of my dreams with the well-being network is to create an index of:

  • the best well-being-orientated companies to work for

  • the best well-being leaders to join

  • which are the best well-being industries

  • and where the best locations are for well-being in the workplace, or in life.

I think once we stop thinking conventionally in terms of where we live or how we work, the true potential of well-being opens up.

Where am I going with this? There is always a spectrum of possibilities and, even now, the outliers are living in the future by:

  1. Designing their lives around their favourite skills and how they integrate them into their best work scenarios.

  2. Leaders or creators living in well-being-centric locations that can attract well-being-orientated talent who are motivated to live the dream! i.e., optimising work and life with no compromises.

  3. Completely integrating well-being habits and tools into the creation of ideas, such that the founders/leaders supporting them would not proceed if this was not the reality.

As we know, in 2025, with technology as advanced as it is, this creates unique opportunities for a new reality, including:

  1. Fast internet and affordable satellite connectivity allowing creation anytime, anywhere.

  2. AI creating the opportunity to be more efficient.

  3. Building the mental skills to switch off from work, say yes to the right responsibilities, and maintain balance is a real art (and is achievable).

  4. The ability to immerse yourself in your life's passions while doing your best work is possible.

I believe as we look to the future, and this is already happening now:

  1. The best talent will require well-being to be fully integrated into their lives—it won't be an add-on. Employers and companies won't attract this talent unless this is the reality.

  2. The gold standard for high human performance in leadership will be based on the real and measurable impact of well-being.

  3. Workplaces and models for hiring and developing talent will look vastly different:

    • Less time "in the office"

    • More fractional and portfolio-based situations

    • More task-based than time-based

    • More collective-based, with collaboration outside the conventional company set-up.

These are just my thoughts and ideas, and I hope they get you thinking!
