First Ever Article
I’m delighted to publish the first-ever article for MC² Life. I am happy to get the website live, as is anyone who has gotten a website live. As you start to read the future articles on this site, I am yearning to bring my audience off social media and to a dedicated site. We still may use social media to repurpose content, but my main vehicle will be this site.
This was the same strategy I used in 2008 when I established ChapmanCG, my global search firm. Back then, social media was virtually nonexistent. However, my audience used to apply to job ads. So when we started ChapmanCG, within six months we had built a site that updated daily with news, and our audience quickly gravitated toward the site.
Fast-forward to 2025: I consider social media to be a powerful tool but also an interference. With MC² Life, I want to create a vehicle of connection with my audience so people don’t feel compelled to check social media. If you’re interested, you’ll come back to the site to check for news, much like reading an online news site.
MC² Life will be the overarching platform where all my life projects sit. As you follow the stories, you’ll get to know the different parts: MC², Search, Coaching, Parihoa Network, and the Edge of the World Collective (EOW). Behind those will be my two properties, Parihoa and Edge of the World, which are beautiful places in pictures.
MC² is the global well-being talent network that will bring together a lot of my former HR audience from ChapmanCG, plus new connections in the business and well-being realm. Just like with ChapmanCG, I am excited to see where this network scales, since back when ChapmanCG started, I couldn’t have foreseen its potential. I am humbled that MC² is a different type of network—more ambiguous and more values-linked.
MC² Search is the well-being search firm at the center of the network. While my personal focus will be on assembling a global slate of Chief Well-being Officers (CWOs) from around the world for well-being-minded Leaders, Founders, and Entrepreneurs, and getting CWOs appointed for new concepts, I will also maintain a keen interest in the c-suite. People in the network needing help putting together their c-suite with a well-being flavor will tap into our search alliance partners. Ultimately, MC² Search could expand into the c-suite itself, but not at the start.
MC² Coaching will bring together coaches from around the world—in NZ and near the EOW Collective—all able to deliver physically or virtually. I’m excited to build the fraternity as I am constantly inspired by the quality of well-being coaches I find in my network. Since the CWO role is likely to appear in fragments or fractional assignments before becoming a full-blown role in a large number of cases, potential demand for well-being capability in a concept or organization may be fulfilled by the MC² Coaches.
Finally, the Parihoa Network and EOW Collectives will be the NZ and South NZ chapters of MC², respectively. Parihoa is my beloved home of the last 12 years and is cherished by many. EOW is my more recent home in the South Island, and I am keen to better tap into the well-being talent in my regular physicality.
Hope you enjoyed this read. There is plenty to share and welcome!
